Hace algunos meses descubrimos que ciertos elementos ligeros emiten positrones bajo la acción de partículas alfa. Nuestros últimos experimentos han mostrado un hecho muy sorprendente: cuando se irradia una lámina de aluminio sobre un preparado de polonio [emisor de rayos alfa], la emisión de positrones no cesa inmediatamente al retirar el preparado activo: la lámina sigue siendo radiactiva y la emisión de radiación decae exponencialmente como para un radioelemento ordinario. Observamos el mismo fenómeno con el boro y el magnesio.
